Little Harbour benefits from solar desalination.

Just a few minutes from The Abaco Club lies the picturesque oasis known as Little Harbour. Little Harbour is sheltered on all sides, and quite shallow at low tide. But for boaters, it’s a very special kind of paradise, a hidden enclave that’s at the same time one of Abaco’s worst-kept secrets.

As any place on the Bahamas, access to clean water is a huge challenge. Desalination is the main solution, accounting for 90% of the water supply in the Bahamas. However, desalination is energy-intensive and electricity is expensive in the Bahamas. This is one of the reasons why Little Harbour went for a desalination solution that uses 70% less electricity, as well as does not require any chemicals for operation and maintenance. Running the desalination on solar energy, it truly ensures no footprint by only using the sea and sun. Nice work!
