About us.

Elemental Water Makers was founded in 2012 as a reaction to increasing water scarcity due to climate change. These days, it has grown to an awarded organization that provides desalination solutions globally and is operational in over 25 countries.
Elemental Water Makers provides in-house design & engineering, production, transportation, and commissioning of solar desalination equipment. Our engineers provide training for operation for our clients once the project is commissioned, as well as ongoing support, often through local partners. We have a dedicated sales and business development team that is available to discuss your project and explore partnerships.

A message from our founders.

Fresh water, there’s no life without it. Already today, 4 billion people are affected by water shortages. It’s not only the water we drink, water is part of everything we do. It’s used for the food we grow, the energy we generate and the products we manufacture.

By using more water than we receive, our aquifers, rivers and lakes are disappearing; more than half of the world’s wetlands have disappeared. Water shortages result in pressure on the supply of food and production of goods, leading to migration and possible conflict. With an increasing population and climate change accelerating water scarcity, to us, water is the biggest challenge for humanity in the 21st century.

But, how can water be scarce if 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water? With only a small fraction of fresh water and even a smaller fraction that is accessible for consumption, the key to solving water scarcity lies in the sea. Desalination is the obvious solution, with reverse osmosis as the preferred technology. However, this industry is energy and fossil intensive, resulting in high expenses. Conventional desalination accounts for 1% of the global electricity consumption, contributing to the acceleration of water scarcity by its emissions.

The obvious solution is desalination powered by renewable energy. However, this involves the challenge to couple a constant reverse osmosis process to fluctuating solar, wind or wave energy. In the past, this barrier resulted in high water expenses and limited water quality. However, not anymore today! We believe it’s possible to move from scarcity to abundance by implementing proven solutions with a positive, long-term impact. As water experts and cleantech specialists, it’s our mission to be part of a sustainable solution for water scarcity. Enter Elemental Water Makers, providing solutions to ensure affordable, high-quality fresh water, using unlimited resources. Join us in solving fresh water scarcity, using only the sea, sun, earth & wind!

Global expertise. Global reach.

As a global yet flexible organisation, we collaborate with preferred civil work partners, architects, developers, suppliers and contractors. We meander our ways to work together to find the optimum form of collaboration and methods of financing.

As a result, we received the 1st prize of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award of the Deputy Ruler of Dubai. Out of 138 organisations active in desalination, we were chosen as the winner for our scalable and mature solutions.

What drives us.

Vision

We observe that fresh water scarcity, the availability of energy and climate change effects are becoming crucial global challenges. As a response, we aim to solve fresh water scarcity by using only the sea, sun, earth & wind.

Mission

We believe that reducing costs will always play an important role in the decision making and therefore strive to provide the most cost attractive renewable energy driven desalination solutions for fresh water production. At the same time, we want to deliver a long-term sustainable solution for the water supply. Therefore we provide solutions that utilize renewable energy sources. We also understand that offering a carefree fresh water supply is important, while providing an outstanding level of service and reliability.

Values

We recognize that we are part of a crucial time-span where all life on our Planet faces challenges, while we acknowledge the human influence on these challenges. Short-term motivations primarily driven by money have gotten the overhand on important values as sustainability, environmental impact and quality. We have set the goal in our organization to be aware of this problem and to contribute by offering long-term, sustainable and high quality solutions which avoid environmental impact.

About Us: Ouir aim is to solve fresh water scarcity, especially in those regions most affected by it
