A bittersweet copper anniversary of making water.
Being in business for 12,5 years is quite an achievement. The Dutch refer to it as the copper anniversary. We are happy to go along, as copper has antibacterial properties in water and you know we love water.
At the same time, we can’t ignore the gravity of the latest report of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water. ”We can no longer count on freshwater availability for our collective future. More than 1,000 children under five die every day from illnesses caused by unsafe water and sanitation. Food systems are running out of fresh water, and cities are sinking as the aquifers underneath them run dry. ”
The effect on changing availability of fresh water will negatively affect countries’ GDP varying between 8-15%, unless we act. Their website has impressive visuals and information for anyone interested in the subject.
Today, we are producing clean water using only the sea and sunshine in over 30 countries and for over 200.000 people in developing communities. Although there are so many people enjoying our safe water daily, it’s bittersweet to realize there’s still a long way to go to ensure affordable clean water for all.
