Because 97% of our water resources are salty, the key to access to more water lies in the sea. Desalination’s nothing new but it’s expensive, fossil fuel-intensive & complex. Elemental Water Makers developed 3x more efficient & easy to use technology to make clean water from sustainable resources. Elemental Water Makers B.V. was founded in the spring of 2012 by Sid Vollebregt and Reinoud Feenstra, two engineers of the University of Technology Delft. We turn seawater into drinking water by efficient reverse osmosis using energy recovery, powered by sunshine in over a dozen countries worldwide. We operate together with local partners to ensure smooth integration and solid support.

We deliver turn-key projects for communities, resorts, private properties, industries & municipalities on islands and coastal regions that face water scarcity. Our projects result on average in a reduction of water expenses >50%, while switching from fossil energy to solar energy. In 2017, we received the MBR Global Water Award 1st prize from the Emir of Dubai for our technology, selected out of 138 organizations. Our technology is recognized as an Efficient Solution by the Solar Impulse Foundation.

We believe that water scarcity is the biggest challenge for humanity in the 21st century and water is currently undervalued. That’s why we offer an independent solution that can augment water resources at any coastline worldwide for generations to come: fossil-free water.
