Are 70% savings too good to be true?

They say if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. We get this a lot. Savings as substantial as 70% can raise eyebrows and perhaps even suspicion. How can you be sure amidst a sea of remarkable advancements that may be claimed online?

In all honesty, we use 70% less energy for desalination.
And as a bonus, we also don’t use chemicals.
Plus, we throw in one free year of support.

We have reached a remarkable number of 30 countries to date, where our desalination solutions are deployed. From enabling life in the desert for plants in Africa to running exclusive operations in the Caribbean, you will find it all in this exciting update.

Enabling life in the desert in Namibia.

Namibia is an arid country regularly afflicted by droughts. Jojoba for Namibia Trust was founded to support women in dry desert areas to build up their own jojoba plantations and harvesting centres and become a part of the whole value chain. However, access to fresh water was a limiting factor in its impact.
We recently commissioned a solar-powered desalination solution so that the people and the seedlings will never be without fresh water again. We want to thank Oliver and his team at Jojoba for Namibia Trust, as well as everyone else involved, for making this project a success and enabling life in the desert together.
“Water quality has always been a pre-requisite for our developments. Not only does this account for human consumption but also as an enabler for agricultural projects. In the past, the various activities revolving around our “Omdel Dam -Project” have always been hampered by the availability of fresh quality water. Fortunately, this has become a problem of the past.

Working with Elemental Water Makers has been an absolute pleasure. Their proactive approach and support throughout the various project phases enabled us to implement a no-nonsense solution in one of the most arid places on this planet. Installation was quick and easy with results which exceeded our imagination. Thank you Elemental Water Makersfor enabling life in the desert!”

Use 70% less electricity by energy recovery.

Energy costs are the largest contributor to the lifecycle cost of a desalination project. Reverse Osmosis is energy-intensive on a small-scale application. Standard desalination solutions between 5-150 m³/day require 10 kWh/m³.

We use unique energy recovery technology to reduce the required energy by 70%, running the desalination unit on 2,7 kWh/m³. By re-using the pressurized salt water that otherwise goes to waste, we reduce the required auxiliary energy with energy recovery.

Energy recovery technology explained

Differences in cost of ownership explained.

As a result, the contribution of electricity is 3-4x smaller than any standard desalination alternative. The higher the energy rates, the bigger the savings:
The differences in the total cost of ownership are caused by:

  • Standard desalination systems consume 3x more electricity, which explains the significantly higher Electricity expenses.
  • Initial investment into a standard desalination system is lower due to the lack of energy recovery technology and the use of lower-quality materials.
  • Costs of replacements are higher with standard desalination due to the use of chemicals & required replacement of the pumps.
  • Support during operation is not available for standard equipment suppliers. As a solution provider, we include one year of free support (and optional continuation) to ensure the solution stays in perfect condition.

Making water for Carribean resorts & villas.

We commissioned several desalination projects for resorts & villas in the Caribbean, including the Greater Antilles and the Leeward Antilles:

”Elemental proved to be the right choice for our system. The amount of professionalism in installation and service is high and they are a great team to work with. They came up with wonderful solutions for our situation and showed great patience with our specific demands.”
